What is Music Therapy ?
Music has always been a powerful tool for expression and has the capacity to touch our emotions deeply. Music therapy is based on the understanding that the ability to respond and experience oneself through music is an inborn quality in all human beings. This ability usually remains unimpaired by disability, injury or illness and is not dependent on musical training. Music therapy is an established clinical profession. Music therapists work with their clients on an one-to-one bases or in a small group – to improvise freely and communicate through shared music. Gradually, a musical relationship is established in which emotions can be expressed and explored in a safe environment developing individuality, self awareness, motivation, confidence, creativity and choice.
