The Music Therapy Trust was set up in 2005 to introduce music therapy to India.
The Trust aims to help children and adults who have autism or other learning, psychological, neurological, behavioural or physical difficulties, or who are marginalised by poverty. It will provide music therapy directly to clients, but will also train indian students to be music therapists so that skills can be spread, and music therapy be established as a fully recognised clinical profession throughout India, benefiting thousands of people.
Music therapy harnesses the power of music to enable people who find it hard to communicate through traditional channels to express and fulfil themselves. It offers a powerful tool to assist in personal expression and self-development.
