AIMS
- Provide students the knowledge, experience and skill to work as a professional music therapist within a range of clinical settings at the professional level required by the Rehabilitation Council of India
- Give students a thorough theoretical grounding in the practice of music therapy
- Give students a clear understanding of disabling conditions by means of clinical studies
- Develop and expand student’s musical skills to gain understanding of how these can practically be used to meet the therapeutic needs of the client
- Provide students with appropriate clinical placements and to give close clinical supervision and support
- Enable students to work in an environment which encourages self-development appropriate to work as a music therapist
- Encourage students to research their own practice and to relate this to the wider discipline of music therapy
OBJECTIVES OF THE POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MUSIC THERAPY AIMS TO :
- Provide students with a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Therapy
- Provide students with the education and training necessary for competence and recognition as a qualified Music Therapy Practitioner in India.
- Provide students with a sound theoretical basis for practice and research in Music Therapy
- Students will have gained a thorough understanding of relevant diagnoses and disabilities
- Develop appropriate music improvisation skills
- Recognise the need for personal development and importance of ongoing clinical supervision whilst practising as a music therapist
- Develop presentational skills in the furtherance of music therapy throughout India
